My Family's Favorite Kansai-style "Modan" Okonomiyaki

My Family's Favorite Kansai-style "Modan" Okonomiyaki

Our whole family loves okonomiyaki. I used to make it the usual way with pork and egg or squid and egg, but the the okonomiyaki with shiso leaves I had once at a restaurant was so good I couldn't get it out of my mind... and I had to find out a way to recreate it at home! I finally arrived at this recipe after a lot of experimenting. Mix everything together in a big bowl in one go, incorporating plenty of air into the batter. The solid ingredients may not get distributed totally evenly, but don't worry too much about that. I always make extra okonomiyaki pancakes and freeze them. They're good microwaved too! For four 15 cm [5.9 in] diameter pancakes. Recipe by Yuachan

Lucky Ehoumaki Sushi Rolls

Lucky Ehoumaki Sushi Rolls

I am bored of making the same thing again, so this year I set my theme for my ehoumaki as lucky colours. I should be super lucky... Do not use too much fillings or it will be very difficult to roll. This one big sushi roll feeds two people easily. Recipe by ochikeron

For your Bento

For your Bento

I made this when I was pushed for time and when I wanted to make something just for me. Use a strong flame before you add the egg, then fry over low flame (You can turn the heat off if you want.) Bunch it together as tightly as you can. When you turn it over, press on the surface slightly to flatten it and give it an attractive finish. For 2 cuts. Recipe by HEWA
