Wo Wo Tou Steamed Dumplings

Wo Wo Tou Steamed Dumplings

The wo wo tou I've had in the past were big and not very sweet. I added kinako to make them tastier. Don't take off the lid immediately after turning off the heat. Recipe by Masako Bishoku

Easy Moist Cornbread

Easy Moist Cornbread

I came up with this recipe because whenever I have cornbread, I always wish it could be fluffier and less sweet. These aren't that sweet, so they're great to have with your main meal. You can also serve them with chili beans. Adjust the amount of sugar to your liking! I used a gas oven. Adjust the cooking time according to your oven. Recipe by Miniature basil

Egg-free Savory Breads in a Bread Machine

Egg-free Savory Breads in a Bread Machine

Just place your desired fillings on the dough, roll it up, and slice into individual portions before baking. I only listed just a small amount of oil/fat, taking the wide variety of possible fillings into account. If you add more butter or shortening it will be richer. This is the first bread I ever baked. It's easy so I still make it occasionally. If you add too much mayo or mustard the dough will be hard to seal up, so add just enough. My family just happens to like this combination of ingredients, so try making it with your favorite fillings. You can hand-knead the dough. Recipe by putimiko

Nachos with Chili Con Carne

Nachos with Chili Con Carne

I wanted to find a delicious way to eat the chili con carne in my freezer. Just put the chili in the microwave straight from the freezer, and it's ready in no time! The presentation of your plate will look better if you hide any broken corn chips in the middle, and the unbroken ones on the edge of the plate. If you don't have red cheddar, just use grated cheese for pizzas. The ingredient amounts are approximated, so just adjust them to your liking. Recipe by Setsubunhijiki

Penguin Onigir Rice Balls

Penguin Onigir Rice Balls

I thought of a way to make cute and easy penguins for bento lunchboxes. This is easy for charaben novices because all it involves is sticking cut-out facial features. The spaghetti strand used to attach the facial parts will soften by the time you're ready to eat, so you can eat it as-is. If you're going to eat it right away, cook or fry the noodles before use. Vegetarian Soymilk Cream Stew

Vegetarian Soymilk Cream Stew

I turned an easy soy milk soup recipe that I use often into creamy stew full of vegetables. I used to make the roux with butter and flour, but I'm limiting my butter intake these days... I used vegetable bouillon to avoid any animal products. The cornstarch sauce gave the sauce a smoother texture and turned out lighter tasting than the kind of cream sauce made with flour. The sweetness of winter daikon radish is the best match for this stew. Recipe by Saishokubeginnernano

Curry Pizza

Curry Pizza

This pizza has been popular with my kids ever since they were small, and even now that they are in high school. I guess this curry taste is soul food for Japanese people. You can also use curry powder instead of curry roux, but it will not thicken. This is all right for the pizzas, but it will be difficult to use as a filling for curry bread. I recommend using curry roux. Recipe by Koba
