Danbing (Taiwanese-Style Breakfast)

Danbing (Taiwanese-Style Breakfast)

I had danbing in Taiwan, so I tried to copy the real version at home. It didn't change much though. Since there weren't too many changes from the last danbing recipe I posted, so if you saw the previous version don't worry. It goes really well with soy milk. Give it a try! Make the skin as thin as possible. Adjust the cooking time to preference. The pre-made danbing skin that I brought home had sesame seeds and green onions, so I added it to the recipe. It contains a lot of vitamin E! But it is fine without it. The skin is very thin and cooks in no time! I almost scorched them while taking the picture. Recipe by mua_jo

Use Up a Lot of Carrots! Tofu Gratin

Use Up a Lot of Carrots! Tofu Gratin

I thought I didn't have any carrots, so I bought some...but then I found 3 whole carrots in the back of my fridge....oops. So in order to use them up, I made a unique recipe. Cook the carrots until you can eat them plain. Please make variations of this! If you make it in ramekins, this will give you about 3-4 servings. For two 15 cm [5.9 in] gratin plates. Make Delicious Savory Egg Custard (Chawanmushi) Using Instant Soup Mix

Make Delicious Savory Egg Custard (Chawanmushi) Using Instant Soup Mix

This is very simple to make since I used instant clear soup (osuimono) packets as the soup stock. I love chawanmushi, and I wanted to be able to make it at any time. I came up with this recipe through trial and error. You can make this very easily in a frying pan too. Steaming the custard is the most difficult part, but as long as there's steam, you can cook them fine over low heat. Gingko nuts make a loud noise when they're heated so beware! Soup mixes differ from brand to brand so make sure you adjust the amount of salt added accordingly. If your pot or pan cover is dome-shaped, water will not drip so you don't need a towel. Take a peek at the custard frequently to make sure it doesn't get too full of bubbles, which ruin the texture. When the custards puff up a little bit they are done. Recipe by Agatsukuiekei

Mini Chocolate Parfait with Strawberries and Bananas

Mini Chocolate Parfait with Strawberries and Bananas

This is a dessert that's made with bananas and chocolate sauce. I often made this when my children were small. This is a variation off the "Chocolate Banana Tart",. It's also good without the custard. Make it however you like. For Step 1, let the custard cream cool, then chill well before use. This custard cream isn't so sweet so please adjust the amount of sugar according to your taste. For Step 2, I used 3 pieces of sponge cake cut into 3 cm cubes. You can drizzle the chocolate sauce over the granola as well. Make this parfait however you like. Recipe by Yuuyuu0221

Our Family's Homemade Ramen

Our Family's Homemade Ramen

I'm really into homemade noodles, since you can make them without any kansui (alkaline soda water). I like crinkled Chinese noodles, so I turned them into ramen. You can enjoy this in so many ways just by changing up the soup. To save some time and effort, and because there are so many delicious ones out there, I just store-bought soup. Soy sauce based soup has the least calories, so I recommend it for light tasting ramen. Recipe by 320coco

Easy English Muffiins in the Bread Maker

Easy English Muffiins in the Bread Maker

I modified a recipe that I was taught when I bought some new muffin moulds. I cross-referenced the amounts with the size of the moulds that I had at home and simplified the numbers a bit to make this recipe. Be careful not to burn yourself when removing the muffins from the moulds. If you don't care about the height of the muffins, you can make them without the moulds. If you don't have an oven tray to place over the muffin moulds, then you can use any heat-resistant tray instead. If you're using aluminium foil, make sure to make a secure lid for each individual mould. If you don't use any type of lid the muffins will be really dense. Recipe by hirokoh

Kamaboko Flowers Using a Vegetable Peeler

Kamaboko Flowers Using a Vegetable Peeler

I made flowers with thin strips of peeler-sliced kamaboko. It's fun to bend and shape kamaboko because it doesn't break easily. Half-width strips make smaller flowers and seem to look more authentic. Have fun experimenting with kamaboko's capabilities. Recipe by Mikki-an
