Homemade Tortilla Chips
Simple salt-flavored tortilla chips weren't available in my neighborhood before, so I've been making my own chips for a while. They're a hit when I serve them to guests with avocado dip, so this has been in my standard repertoire for 12 years. If you are using store-bought corn tortillas, cut them into triangles with scissors. In Step 3, if you find the tortilla mix hard to handle, coat your hands in oil and roll it into balls. Since the chips are served with dip, I didn't salt them. They are delicious when freshly fried, and simply flavored with salt and spices of your choice. Spread the mixture thinly for crispy results. Fish Tacos
This is a reproduction of the delicious fish tacos that I ate in San Diego. Some of the ingredients may be hard to find in Japan, but you can try going to import shops like Kaldi, Kinokuniya, or Seijo-Ishii, where you can easily find them. Coleslaw: Sesame and Mustard Flavour
Moisture tends to be released when making coleslaw, so when packing it into my bento lunchbox, I added ground sesame seeds to absorb the moisture. I forgot to add the sweet corns for the photo, since I took the photo after making it during a busy morning. If you don't have white wine vinegar, use rice vinegar instead.
