My sister-in-law used to make this soup many years ago. My girls loved it so much that I had to get her recipe. I always make a double batch, as it disappears quickly.

So I wrote my own out after trying a few different recipes, I wanted something middle of the road between a crusty not sweet southern cornbread and the Yankee "cake" cornbread. I wanted mine to be able to stand on its own, but also go good with other things. Not so sweet that it's out of place with chili, but not too savory to eat with milk and honey butter for breakfast. So I came up with this . 2 of my kids won’t eat the black beans or corn, but I wanted it in mine , so instead of writing two recipes, I just did it this way. Regular taco potatoes sound pretty good too. Everyone in my house loves baked potatoes, and tacos, so win win for everyone.
